Someone gave me their "emergency possibles" list they take along in a backpack. You can make your own, but most of the time we are under-prepared for any mishaps.
" Things to carry when looking. I carry a med size first aid kit with the following: small liq bottle of soap, gloves, wash cloth, asst bandaids the fabric kind, 2 ace wrap,3 triangle bandages, bottle of sting ease, epi pen, gauze 4x4s about 25. 2 gauze wrap 3 in size, tape (athletes kind), small bottle of peroxide, tube of J and J wound cream and wound wash. small bottle of aspirin, ibuprofen, tums, a sawyers snake bite kit, buck knife and a bottle of water. all this minus the water in a zip lock freezer bag with the slider top in a shave kit. I also have a small army shovel , madox, weapon if needed."

I always took a small backpack with things that I might need. You need a large enough water bottle, toilet paper plus something to dig such as a pick, short handle mini-shovel, or digging trowel. These are basic essentials, more would be a compass, hiking gps, food, containers to keep finds in, metal detector and/or dowsing rods, maps, paper and pen to write information down, etc. Most people will want a first aid items or kit.
