Y-rods is what some dowsers call the forked stick or branch used to find water, treasure, oil. For metal they use wire, the flexible response is the most important thing about materials.

I don't use the metal Y-rods but have tried the Y-branch rod. You would have to work with it a while to see how they respond. I would expect the rod should be at lest 14-20" to get the right action.
Oh, Thursday I will be leaving for a trip to a family reunion, on the east coast and won't be home until sometime during the following week.
